Good protection, slow setup

I recently signed up for the Endpoint Protection for our small business. The platform itself is quite robust, and it seems to catch threats effectively. Installation for our workstations was straightforward, but integrating it with our server environment took a bit longer than I anticipated. The documentation was helpful, but I had to contact support once for a specific configuration issue. They responded within a day, which was acceptable, but a slightly quicker initial setup guide for more complex environments would improve the experience. Overall, it's a solid cybersecurity solution for the price.

Good protection, slow setup

I signed up for Endpoint Protection for our small business. The platform itself works well, caught a few suspicious things right away. The setup process, though, took a bit longer than I expected to get everything configured across all our machines. Their support team was helpful, but I wish the initial onboarding was smoother.

Annual plan saved us money

As a first-time buyer for cybersecurity, I was looking for the best deal. I opted for the annual billing for our Workstation Protection, which gave us a nice discount compared to monthly. It felt like a good value for the features we got. The free trial before committing was also a big plus, letting us see how it would fit our needs without any upfront cost. It was definitely worth the investment for peace of mind, though I wish there were more public-facing discounts.

Easy to use, fair price

We just needed something reliable for our small office, and the Workstation Protection seemed like a good fit. It was pretty easy to get it going on all our computers. Didn't have any trouble setting it up or anything. The price seemed fair for what you get, and it just runs in the background without bothering anyone. So far, no issues at all. It's nice to have that extra layer of security without a lot of fuss.

Easy to use for our team

We needed something for our servers and workstations, so we went with the Endpoint Detection and Response. It was pretty straightforward to get going. Everything felt secure after it was installed. No real complaints, the interface is clean.

Comprehensive protection, minor glitches

Our organization opted for a bundle including Endpoint Protection, Vulnerability Assessment, and Managed Threat Hunting. The ordering process was simple after we spoke with their sales team and got a custom quote. Delivery was, of course, digital, and access credentials arrived promptly. The Endpoint Protection agents deployed without much fuss across most of our devices, though we had one or two workstations where the install needed a manual restart. The Vulnerability Assessment reports are detailed and actionable, which is great for our compliance efforts. We haven't had to use their Incident Response Services yet, thankfully. The dashboard sometimes takes a little longer than I'd like to load, especially during peak hours, but overall, it's a robust solution for our needs. Their 24/7 MDR support has been responsive on the few occasions we've reached out with questions about specific alerts.

Fantastic security solution!

I can't say enough good things about ThreatDown! We switched our organization over to their Managed Detection and Response service a few months ago, and the peace of mind is incredible. The team is super proactive, and they caught a suspicious activity that our previous solution completely missed. The dashboard is intuitive, and getting reports is easy. We even tried out the Ransomware Rollback feature in a test environment, and it worked flawlessly. I'm so glad we made the move. Will definitely stick with them!

Consistent server security

This is our third time renewing Server Security with ThreatDown. We initially switched from another provider and haven't looked back. The protection has been consistent across all our servers, and we haven't had any major incidents. Their Managed Detection and Response option is something we're considering next, as our needs are growing. It's reliable, which is what we need.

how does the pricing work for servers vs workstations? is it per device or like a tiered license thing for overall usage?

K Kyle White 1 month ago
It's generally per endpoint, so each server and workstation counts as an endpoint. But they usually have different pricing tiers depending on how many you have overall. The more devices, the lower the per-device cost tends to be, from what I remember.

L Lisa Ramirez 1 month ago
They bill per endpoint, that's correct. You don't pay more for a server versus a workstation, it's just 'an endpoint.' They also have different bundles if you need specific features like email protection or cloud scanning, which can affect the overall cost per endpoint too.

Thinking about the free trial, does it include all the features, like the MDR and threat hunting stuff? Or is it just the basic endpoint protection to start?

R Richard Ramirez 1 month ago
AFAIK, the free trial is pretty comprehensive. You get to poke around most of the features, including the MDR, for 30 days. It's meant to give you a real taste of what it can do, not just a stripped-down version.

Yeah, I did the trial last year and it gave access to the full suite they offer. It's not a watered-down demo, you can actually see how the managed services would integrate with your setup.

Does ThreatDown actually offer a free trial, or is it just one of those 'talk to sales' things?

J Jeff L. 2 weeks ago
They totally do! I signed up for a 30-day trial last month for my company. It was pretty easy to get started.

S Sofia Green 2 weeks ago
Yep, can confirm. Free trial is a real thing. Good way to test it out before committing.

Hey, thinking about getting ThreatDown for our small business. How's the pricing work? Is it like, per computer or what?

M Megan Smith 1 month ago
Yeah, it's generally billed per endpoint, like per device you want to protect. That's how most of these cybersecurity platforms do it.

A Amanda Hill 1 month ago
They do offer different tiers and stuff though. You should probably hit up their sales for a custom quote, especially if you have a decent number of devices. They might have volume discounts.

Is there a way to get a discount for a smaller company? We're a non-profit and every penny counts, looking at maybe 30-40 endpoints.

G Grace H. 3 weeks ago
They definitely have non-profit pricing, I remember seeing that mentioned when we first looked into them. You probably just need to contact their sales team and provide some proof of your non-profit status. Worth a shot!
6
L Lisa Torres 3 weeks ago
Yup, what they said. Also, if you can commit to an annual plan, you usually save a decent chunk compared to paying monthly. Might be worth bundling services too if you need more than just basic endpoint protection.

anyone know if ThreatDown has any special deals for non-profits? our budget is super tight.

N Nick Hernandez 3 weeks ago
I'm pretty sure they do have non-profit pricing. I remember seeing something about that when I was looking into it for a charity I volunteer with.

K Katie Lewis 3 weeks ago
Yeah, I'd definitely ask them directly. Most security vendors have some kind of discount for non-profits, so it's worth checking.

Is ThreatDown better than, say, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint? Trying to figure out if it's worth switching.

K Karen E. 2 weeks ago
That's a tough one, depends on your needs. ThreatDown's MDR and threat hunting are pretty solid, I've heard. Defender is good, but sometimes the managed services aspect isn't as hands-on.
2
O Olivia 2 weeks ago
Honestly, you'd probably want to run both through a trial or demo if you can. They have different strengths. ThreatDown feels more proactive with the human-led threat hunting, from what I gather.

Thinking of switching from CrowdStrike to ThreatDown. Anyone done that? How was the migration process and actual performance differences?

M Matt Smith 1 month ago
We moved our ~150 endpoints from CrowdStrike to ThreatDown about 6 months ago. Performance-wise, it's pretty comparable for day-to-day stuff. Where we saw a big improvement was with the managed detection and response part – the team actually proactively reaches out, which was a nice change from just getting alerts we had to deal with ourselves.
2
A Amanda Scott 1 month ago
Yeah, I hear that. Migration can be a pain though. Did you do it yourselves or get help? Our IT team is pretty swamped already.
